Yamaha Scooters

Yamaha scooters are made by Yamaha Motor Company which is a part of Yamaha Corporation. Yamaha Corporation was created in 1887 & made pianos & organs. By 1955 Yamaha Corporation was the world’s largest maker of pianos when the president Genichi Kawakami decided to enter the small engine industry and established Yamaha Motor Company. They were able to leverage their experience in metallurgy making piano parts to manufacture very strong lightweight motors and motorcycle parts.

They met with quick success developing several 2-stroke air-cooled single stroke models that performed well in international competitions. Riding on this success they entered the US market in 1960. Just a few years later they introduced the DT-1 the world’s first “trail bike” that could operate both on and off road creating an entirely new class of motorcycle.

Today Yamaha Motor Company is known around the world with revenue of around 12 billion dollars and over 50,000 employees. They are involved in nearly every sort of vehicle you can imagine including motorcycles, scooters, boats, RVs, UAVs, robots, wheelchairs, electric bicycles and more. In 2011 Yamaha and Toyota formed a long term strategic partnership to develop next generation vehicles for the mobile society of the future.
